SIP Trunk Registration Failure - Incorrect Realm

Problem Description

SIP trunk registration failure.

 

Analysis

- The Asterisk CLI log shows the error:

[2018-03-27 15:29:15] WARNING[23403]: res_pjsip_outbound_authenticator_digest.c:163 digest_create_request_with_auth_from_old: Unable to create request with auth.No auth credentials for any realms in challenge.
[2018-03-27 15:29:15] WARNING[23403]: res_pjsip_outbound_registration.c:906 handle_registration_response: Failed to create authenticated REGISTER request to server 'sip:sip-net.spark.co.nz' from client 'sip:***@sip-net.spark.co.nz:0'
[2018-03-27 15:29:15] WARNING[23403]: res_pjsip_outbound_registration.c:813 schedule_retry: Temporal response '401' received from 'sip:sip-net.spark.co.nz' on registration attempt to 'sip:***@sip-net.spark.co.nz:0', retrying in '5'

- The PCAP log shows the PBX keeps sending REGISTER packet, and the provider replied with 401 Unauthorized:

mceclip0.png - Considering the issue could be related with the realm. Then check the web setting for the SIP trunk. We found the client had input the realm which is different with the 401 Unauthorized packet.

Solution

Leave the Realm field of SIP trunk settings blank.
