Background
Yealink has recently updated its security strategy. As a result, IP phones manufactured before 2018 require additional authentication when using RPS (Redirection and Provisioning Service) for auto-provisioning.

When booting such legacy devices, the phone may prompt for either:
- An RPS PIN
- The last 5 digits of the serial number (SN)
Scenarios & Solutions
Case 1: Phone prompts for "RPS PIN"
At first, this PIN is automatically generated by the Yealink YMCS platform.
If the phone was added to the Yeastar PBX system via its MAC address, the MAC can be submitted to our support team.
The support team can then retrieve the RPS PIN, and provide it to the end user for manual input.
User only needs to input the RPS PIN at first time. For furture provisioning, the prompt will not pop up again.
Case 2: Phone prompts for "Last 5 digits of SN"
The user can simply look for the serial number label on the back of the phone.
Input the last 5 digits to proceed with provisioning.
User only needs to input the SN at first time. For furture provisioning, the prompt will not pop up again.
Solution
Upgrade your PBX to version X.20.0.128 or higher.
After ugprade you will be able to get the RPS pin from PBX Auto Provisioning menu.
If you have problem to get RPS PIN after ugprade, please contact our support.
