Display the Originator Caller ID Number for Transfer/Forwarding Scenario

Scenario

This article provides different solutions for displaying the originator caller id number in 3 different call transfer and call forward scenarios.

  • Call Transfer - Attended Transfer by feature code *3.

Solution

Basically, solution 2,3 is recommended.

1. Call Transfer - Attended Transfer by featured code *3

Go to Settings->PBX->General->Preferences->Attended Transfer Caller ID, select the Transferee or Auto mode.

2. Call Forward - External incoming call forwarded/transferred to internal Extension.

Go to Settings-> PBX-> General-> SIP> Advanced tab. Check one of the 2 options: Send Remote Party ID, Send P Asserted Identify, Send Diversion ID.

3. Call Forward - External incoming call forwarded/transferred to a custom external number

Go to Settings-> PBX-> Trunks-> Edit Voip trunk-> Advanced-> Transfer Parameters, check the "The Originator Caller ID"  for one of the fields: From, Diversion, Remote Party ID, P Asserted Identity or P Preferred Identity parameter for the test one by one till getting the proper header.  A common setup is

  • From -> Default
  • Remote Party ID-> The Originator Caller ID 
  • Diversion -> None
  • P Preferred Identity -> None
  • P Asserted Identity -> None

Note: this solution requires that the carrier can read the originator caller ID from one of the above headers.

 

Forwarding Setup Reference

Go to Settings-> PBX-> Extension-> Edit selected Extension-> Presence-> Call Forwarding, enable the Always, No Answer or Busy, and then, select the target Custom or Mobile number. It can be an extension number or external number.

Procedure 

  • Call Transfer - Attended Transfer by feature cod *3
  1. External number 5503301 call to Extension 610, call answered;
  2. Extension 610 transfers the call to Extension 600 after pressing feature code *3+Extension number 600;
  3. Extension number 600 answered after the call established between 5503301 and 600, Extension 600's screen will display the originator caller number 5503301.
  • Call Forward - External incoming call forwarded to internal Extension/External number
  1. External number 5503301 call to Extension 610 through the SIP trunk;
  2. Base on the Call forwarding condition settings, the incoming call will be directly forwarded to Extension 600;
  3. Extension 600 will ring and its own screen will display the originator caller number 5503301.
  • Call Transfer - Any type (For example, Transfer by phone button)
  1. External number 5503301 call to Extension 610 through the SIP trunk;
  2. Agent 610 press transfer button on the phone, and dial the target number( it can be an extension number or external number)
  3. Extension 600 will ring and its own screen will display the originator caller number 5503301.
