When the GSM module is registered in the cellular network, we are able to make and receive the calls by the GSM module. The GSM module call communication flow is like the following figure.

Outgoing call flow
- 1.1 Extension sends call request to PBX.
- 1.2 PBX sends call request to GSM module.
- 1.3 GSM module sends the call to the cellular network.
- 1.4 Cellular network sends the call to the user.
- 1.5 User returns ringing and answer response.
- 1.6 Cellular network returns the ringing and answer response.
- 1.7 GSM module returns the ringing and answer response.
- 1.8 PBX returns ringing and answer response, call is established.
Incoming call flow
- 2.1 User sends call request to the cellular network.
- 2.2 The cellular network sends call request to GSM module.
- 2.3 GSM module sends the call to the PBX.
- 2.4 PBX sends the call to the extension.
- 2.5 Extension returns ringing and answer response.
- 2.6 PBX returns the ringing and answer response.
- 2.7 GSM module returns the ringing and answer response.
- 2.8 Cellular returns ringing and answer response, call is established.
GSM module call configuration
The configuration that would affect the GSM module call mostly is the routing configuration. It differs by different products.
S-Series
- Inbound Route: Check the Inbound Route according to the user guide. Inbound Route
- Outbound Route: Check the Outbound Route according to the user guide. Outbound Route
- Blacklist
GSM Gateway
- Outbound switch: Enable this option so that you could make outbound calls from GSM module. ( Path: Gateway> Mobile List> Mobile list )
- IP to Mobile: Check the route according to the user guide.
- Mobile to IP: Check the route according to the user guide.
