How to Configure MyPBX U300 as E1 Gateway (Part 2)

About How to Configure MyPBX U300 as E1 Gateway (Part 1), please refer the below link: https://support.yeastar.com/hc/en-us/articles/218007367

PART 2. Connect MyPBX U300 to IPPBX

Here are the steps to Configure both IPPBX and MyPBX U300. As we know, some IPPBX only work on the software level, they cannot support physical lines such as E1 line. For this solution, we can Configure MyPBX U300 as a SIP Gateway, so that we can dial out using IPPBX’s extensions via the E1 trunk of MyPBX U300.
In this manual, we take Elastix for example.

We have two modes for this solution: VoIP Trunk mode and VoIP P2P(Peer to Peer)mode.

Elastix IP: 192.168.5.235
MyPBX U300 IP: 192.168.5.193

Flowchart for connection:

VoIP Trunk Mode

1. Make calls using IPPBX’s extension via E1 trunk of U300

1.1 MyPBX U300 Configuration

1) Create an extension account in MyPBX U300. Here we take extension 300 for example.

Figure 1 Extension account in MyPBX U300

2) Created an outbound route for the E1 trunk, then set to allow extension 300 call out via this outbound route.

1.2 IPPBX Configuration

1) Setup VoIP Trunk in Elastix, register to MyPBX U300 according to the extension 300 information. In this case, Elastix will work as an extension of MyPBX U300. All extensions of Elastix call from this trunk will regard as call from extension 300 of MyPBX U300.

2) Create outbound route for VoIP trunk in Elastix.

2. Receive calls from E1 trunk of U300 at IPPBX

2.1 MyPBX U300 Configuration

Created an inbound route for the E1 trunk, and set the inbound route destination as the extension 300.

2.2 Elastix Configuration

Configure Elastix Inbound Route to a destination you need, in general, we set it to IVR.

VoIP P2P mode

1.Make calls using IPPBX’s extension via E1 trunk of U300

1.1 IPPBX Configuration

1) Setup SIP P2P mode in Elastix, connect to MyPBX U300.
Path: PBX -> Trunks -> Add SIP Trunk

Figure 7  SIP P2P mode in Elastix

2) Setup Outbound Route in Elastix. all calls from extensions of Elastix will be sent to MyPBX U300 via the SIP P2P mode.

Note:choose the SIP P2P mode we created in the last step.

Figure 8 Outbound route in Elastix

1.2 MyPBX U300 Configuration

1) Setup SIP P2P mode in MyPBX U300, connect to Elastix.
Path: PBX -> Trunks -> VoIP Trunk -> Service Provider -> Add Service Provider

Figure 9 SIP P2P mode in MyPBX U300

After creating SIP P2P mode, we can check the status of this trunk, it should be OK (green).

Path: Status -> Line Status -> Trunk Status

2) Create outbound route for E1 trunk in MyPBX U300.

Figure 11 Outbound route for E1 trunk

3) Create inbound route for SIP P2P mode in MyPBX U300, and choose the outbound route we created in the last step as destination, so that the calls via this P2P mode will be sent out through E1 trunk.

Figure 12 Inbound route for SIP P2P mode

2. Receive calls from E1 trunk of U300 at IPPBX

The SIP P2P mode connection is finished, so we can start to Configure a rule to route the incoming calls to PABX side.

1. MyPBX U300 Configuration

1)Created an outbound route for the SIP P2P mode.

Figure 13 Outbound route for SIP P2P mode in U300

2) Create an inbound route for the E1 trunk, and choose the outbound route we created in previous step so that the incoming calls from E1 trunk will be sent to Elastix through the SIP P2P mode.

Figure 14 Inbound route in U300

 2. IPPBX Configuration

In Elastix side, we need create inbound route for the SIP P2P mode so that we can dial in, in this example, we choose IVR as the destination (generally).
