MicroSIP is a popular open-source softphone for Windows that offers a lightweight approach. MicroSIP can be configured to be used with one or several accounts.
This guide below introduces how to configure MicroSIP to register the extension of Yeastar S-Series VoIP PBX.
- Open MicroSIP Download Page
Open the MicroSIP download page in your browser
- Download MicroSIP Lite
Download the Lite installer - named Micro SIP-Lite-X.x.x.exe (The portable installation is not covered in this document)
- Install MicroSIP Lite
Run the installer, clicking next at the prompts, and allowing access at the windows firewall prompt.
- Configure a SIP Account
a. Select 'Add Account' from the 'Menu' bar tray;
b. Fill in the following fields according to the information of sip server account, an example as below:
Account Name: 1005 //optional, give this account a name
*SIP server: 192.168.9.182 //local IP address of S series PBX
SIP Proxy: //optional, only required when there is a proxy
*User: 1005 //use the registration name
*Domain: 192.168.9.182 //local IP address of S series PBX
*Password: // use the registration password
Display Name: //optional, name that will be displayed on the other party
Voicemail Number: //optional, Voicemail access number.
5. Complete the Registration
On saving the account details, the softphone tries to register with the S-Series VoIP PBX. On successfully registering with the server, the dialpad should look like this:
Notice the 'Online' in the status bar. In case the server is down, it would show 'Registration timeout' instead.
Now you are good to go. Dial the required number.
