Hi everyone, I need help. I have to interface an S300 with Opera. I purchased and installed the CHAR h side S300 app. As for PMS what is it for? I read about Easylynq, while Char offers me his middleware software (obviously to be purchased, not foreseen in the estimate). Someone has already done this type of installation. Can you help me and send any documentation to do it all? Thanks so much

Larry Neblett I do not have experience with Char, but do have experience with PBX systems and several PMS interfaces to include Opera.
The S PBX does not contain direct internal support for interfacing the PBX function with a hotel property management system (PMS). To accomplish the interface, there needs to be a middleware package that on the one side will take in the data from the PMS system and then on the other side, translate it into a format that the PBX will understand and react to. As the flow goes in both directions, the middleware serves as a translator so the two systems (PBX and PMS) can "talk" to and from one another.
The PMS system is used by the hotel to check-in & out guests, enable/disable VM, report a room status (clean, dirty, needs maintenance, etc and record any mini-bar charges should the hotel have such a need. So, when the front desk checks a guest into a room, the PMS system will send a message to Char and Char will then send a message to the PBX that will instruct the PBX to insert the guest name into the extension, enable voice mail and allow outbound calling. Conversely, when the guests checks out the reverse is true in that the guest name will be removed from the extension, VM will be disable and any voice mail messages deleted and the extension will be disabled from making external calls. The room phone on the other hand, will be used by housekeeping to dial a code and indicate the room status and minibar usage which will be fed back to the PMS system so the front desk will know when a room is clean and can be rented out and if there are minibar charges that need to be put on the guest folio for payment. There may also be the issue of any charges associated to calls.
Apparently, you have not done a hotel PMS interface before?

Pixy Tse Sorry, we don't have the guide for the configuration for the cHar server. As the most configuration is done by the cHar team if you purchase the cHar license.
The cHar integration steps on our PBX is pretty simple. https://help.yeastar.com/en/s-series/topic/configure_the_connection_with_char.html

Randy Borja We are also trying to interface with Opera PMS and we are using S300 PBX. Do we need to install any license on the PBX for this integration to work? Also we cannot find the Char Util App indicated in the user guide from the App List. Does this come separately from the S300 PBX system and do we need to download it from the website?
Please advise us. Thank you in advance.
