Feature Code - Voicemail for Extension ** Plays Generic Message

I have a law firm that wants to be able to send callers directly to a phone's voicemail greeting without transferring the call to their extension to avoid ringing the phone.  Yeastar has a Feature Code, set to ** by default, that allows you to transfer a caller directly to leaving a voicemail message for that entered extension number, but the system only plays the "Please leave your message after the tone" generic prompt instead of the custom unavailable greeting (or temporary greeting, if set) as every other phone system would normally do. 

 

What can be done to fix this missing functionality?

  I am not sure if it is a problem. I tried to figure out if anything could change, but no luck.

  Try to check it with Yeastar support if possible.

  What needs to change is the lookup of the dialed extension's greeting prompt.  I believe a shortcut was taken when building this function to only "deliver" the caller's recording into the entered extension number and using a generic prompt on the function.

  My take is that the system and/or the person that is doing the transfer may not know or care if the person is available or not; so the personalized message is really extraneous. The call is being sent directly into an extension's mailbox. 

  However, while that is my take on how Yeastar approached the function, I do agree that some type of message is needed as the person being transferred has no idea if the correct destination was reached and may be hesitant to leave a message or might leave one at an extension where it shouldn't have been left. So, yes, I agree with you, a message other than the system one is needed.

  Yeastar this is important.  The direct transfer to voicemail feature should play the target's unavailable message!  There is no debate about this.  I makes no sense that it should not do this already.  Thank you.
