Hello everyone,
I am implementing an S100 pbx for a client who currently has an old pbx system with a Bogan Telephone amplifier system for their PA. I need to figure out how to use the current PA system with the S100. Can this be done or do I need to get a system using IP addressing? Thanks!
Yes, it can be done, but it depends on what the analog system needs as an input in order to select the correct device with which to make the interface. Does it want a line level input or can it accept an amplified input? What is the Bogen model # ?
Hi Larry, thanks for the reply. It is a Bogen TPU 100B unit. We are fairly new to implementing the S100, and not sure how to accomplish this.
The device has a mic input, telephone input and music. What all are they using on it now?
I am looking to see what is connected. They only use paging, no music, or mic.
It is showing two wires connected to TEL BAL T-R (on the left) and two wires connected to TEL RING T-R (on the right).
The tel ring is an output for a night bell.
The tel line is an input, 600 Ohm balanced and my guess is that it is looking for a page out from a traditional analog system.
This implies that it wants a device that will auto answer before hitting the Bogen so that the Bogen does not see ring voltage, but rather the analog feed for the voice.

These both provide a line level balanced output. I can only suggest you do a Google search and then download the spec sheets and review the manuals. Neither are inexpensive.
There are other adapters out there such as the SNOM PA1 & Fanvil PA2, but they provide an amplified output. While you might be able to get away with either, you run the risk that they may not work as well as you need.
Valcom 801A may also work

Jack Wire in the Tip and Ring into a cheap Yealink T21P for example. I have done this myself take the back off the phone apart and splice into the speaker wires. When you do a page all the speaker of the phone will trigger the paging system. I will be on that customer site and take some pics on how I did it works great and its a cheap way of doing it. I did it on the same Bogen AMP you have pictured

Yes, a poor man's PA1. It, like the PA1 and 2, provides an amplified output, but with less wattage. As the impedance is not the same nor is it balanced it is possible that you can get away with doing this and it may be fine and presumably it is given Gregory's experience. If anything, you will need to be careful about speaker volume from the phone.
Drill small hole in back after removing panel
Find the white speaker feed wires
Cut the wires and splice in your cable you will feed threw the hole you drilled in back , (but mars on wire to protect from shorting out)
But back together and wire the TIP and RING the BOGEN
Tip and ring - Assign ext to phone and have it in the page group - I mount it close to the PBX and can use it as a phone onsite if support is needed

Gregery, I used a Grandstream GXP2100 and soldered the wires to the point on the board for the speaker (leaving the speaker attached as the phone and amp are in a remote location) and it functions perfectly! Thank you for the idea, and sharing!! Definitely a lower cost solution that works in this situation. Larry I have documented your solutions for future reference, Thank you!
