in our area we have to dial 1 before all long distance calls. However, for local area calls we also have to dial full 10 digit number (but not the one). If we dial the 1 by mistake our local phone company will charge us long distance rates even if it was a local call. I am confused how to set this up in the. System. I know I have to create a couple of outbound routes with different dial patterns to adjust for these differences. Just not sure how to complete that correctly. Hopefully someone can assist me with how to complete this. Thanks.

Oscar Colka According to your description, my understanding is:
1. The long distance calls (1 + 10 digits) and local calls(10 digits) are with different number of digits.
2. For local calls, the first digit of local number would not be 1
If my understanding above are correct, please try setup two outbound routes
For local calls, setup the dial pattern as NXXXXXXXXX
For long distance calls, setup the dial pattern as 1XXXXXXXXXX
So when you dial a 10 digits number and only when the first digit is not 1, it will go through the local calls route
When you dial a 11 digits number and only when the first digit is 1, it will go through the long distance calls route

Joe Chamberlain Oscar thanks for assistance. I am not sure I explained it well. I am trying to set it up where my agents do not have to worry about dialing the "1" before every call as the system does that for them. So, I need the system to to add the one to all calls except those in which the first three digits (area code) is 336. The 336 area code is our local area and if the system where to also dial a one before those calls then we would be charged for long distance rates. Its crazy that our phone company can't do this automatically but it doesn't. I am hoping I can get the system to do this so I can just tell my agents to dial the ten digit number all the time and the system will take care of wether or not to add the one. I hope this makes sense. Thanks again.

Oscar Colka Joe, If you are using S Series PBX, try setup two outbound routes as below screenshots(which are captured on S100 in my office):
With these outbound routes, when people dial a number with 336 area code, it will go through the outbound route LocallCalls
When people dial other 10 digits number, it will go through the LongDistance outbound route and S100 PBX will add 1 automatically;
Note: The outbound "LocalCalls" must be at the top of all the outbound routes and the outbound routes will be match from the top to the bottom.

Joe Chamberlain This worked great thanks Oscar!

Patrick Hogan Thanks for bringing this up, Joe. Oscar's answer came in handy. Funny how the phone company doesn't do that automatically. Mostly, it should be that if it's a local call, there's no need to dial an area code already.

Hi Oscar,Here in our country, Our Telcos do not require any special pattern to make long distance calls. We only need to dial the Area Code+Phone Number. For local calls, it's pure phone number dial only. Also, our Telco admits their PIN system is currently NON-Functional so it's either we completely disable long distance or we don't. This means everyone who has access to a telephone can make long distance calls.
Is there a way we can regulate our users in making long distance calls with Yeastar MyPBX? Like require a PIN? We wouldn't want to totally disable making long distance calls as we need it for business purposes.
Your help will be greatly appreciated, Sir.
Sincerely,
Jiro
