Is there anything I need to to with the TG series to utilize 3G or 4G? I have one with an AT&T sim card in it, but AT&T believes it's a 2G phone attached to it. For background, AT&T is retiring their 2G/GSM network at the end of the year. I've received a handful of alerts indicating that. Any info/assistance on this would be most welcome.
Stephen, I believe this depends on what you choose when you purchase the TG1600. If you choose GSM module, it will support 2G only. If so, you might need to change the hardware.
If you choose UMTS module(TG1600 UMTS model with UMTS module inside), then it will support for 3G. Note that there are kinds of 3G frequency and Yeastar UMTS module supports for some specific 3G frequency. Ask the mobile carrier and check the frequency they used before you purchase the UMTS module.
Oscar, thank you. I had thought they were UMTS, but do you know how I can tell either via the interface or should I open them up? If it is GSM, where is the best place to purchase the UMTS module from?

EDIT: Additionally, it's not entirely clear to me if the TG1600 has UMTS capability. I see conflicting information in various sections on the Yeastar website. It seems clear that the TG100-800 have it, but the TG1600 looks like it might not. Is that a module that I can add (if so, where do I purchase) or do I have to switch to using a TG800?
Hi Stephen, there are several ways to tell you which kind of modules installed in the TG1600:
1. Check the packing box and if it is UMTS, the UMTS check box will be marked;
2. Login the web GUI and you will find the module type, see below screenshot
3. Check with your device provider and ask them what kind of modules installed.
If it is GSM module, for the question where is the best place to purchase the UMTS module from, I don't know the answer, I think you can try send an email to sales@yeastar.com or call their US number,

I think TG1600 has the UMTS capability, but I would suggest you to double check with your device provider.
