How to connect Yeastar S Series to TA FXO Gateway

1. Introduction

This application note shows how to connect S-Series IPPBX to TA FXO VoIP gateway via SIP trunking. This guide has been tested with:

  • TA410 firmware version 41.19.0.23; IP address: 192.168.9.90
  • S100 firmware version 30.5.0.8; IP address: 192.168.9.130 

Target:

After connecting TA410 and S100, physical trunk PSTN will be extended on S-Series IPPBX. 
The following features can be achieved:

  • Make outbound calls from S100 via the PSTN trunks of TA410.
  • Receive calls from PSTN trunks of TA410 at S100.

Description:

  • A PSTN line from provider is connected to TA410’s FXO port1.
  • PSTN number: 0595550330

2. Preparation

In version 41.19.0.23, TA410 is configured with a default IP 192.168.5.150/24. You will need to add IP in the same segment for your computer, so that you can access the web interface of TA410 and change a new IP address for it.

In older  versions, TA410 attempts to contact a DHCP server in your network to obtain valid network settings (e.g., the IP address, subnet mask, default gateway address and DNS address) by default.

Before connecting TA410 to S-Series IPPBX, you need to set a static IP address from the same LAN with the S-Series IPPBX.

Steps to set static IP for TA410:

1. Download a DeviceFound tool from Yeastar website: FindTA.rar

2. Run the DeviceFound.exe software.

3. The detected TA devices in the local network will appear in the window.

4. Find the TA device’s IP address by the device’s MAC address or the SN.

5.Log in TA410 and go to System→Network Preferences→LAN Settings, disable DHCP and configure the LAN network, save and apply the changes, reboot TA410 to take effect.

3. Connect S-Series IPPBX to TA410

Step 1. Create a SIP Trunk on S-Series IPPBX
Path: Setting--PBX-- Trunk

  • Type: Peer Trunk
  • Provider Name: TAO
  • Hostname/IP: fill in TA410's IP address, 192.168.9.90.

Save and apply the changes, we can check the status of this trunk, it should be OK.

Step 2. Create a Service Provider SIP trunk on TA410.
Path: Gateway→VoIP Settings→VoIP Trunk

  • Trunk Type: Service Provider
  • Type: SIP
  • Provider Name: give a name for the trunk, S100
  • Hostname/IP: fill in S-Series IPPBX IP address, 192.168.9.130, the default port is 5060.

Save and apply the changes, we can check the status of this trunk, it should be OK.

4. IP to Port

In this section, we introduce how to achieve making outbound calls from S100 through PSTN line on TA410.

      
Step 1. Create one outbound route on S100.
To make external calls from S-Series IPPBX through TA410’s PSTN trunk, you need to create one outbound route on S100.

Path: PBX→Outbound Call Control→Outbound Routes
Choose the SIP trunk "TAO" and set the rule for the outbound as the picture shows, which allows users to dial any number.

Step 2. Create a Port Group on TA410.

Path: Gateway→Port List→Port Group
There are multiple PSTN trunks on TA410. We can group the PSTN trunks, and apply the group to “IP->Port” Route. When calling from your SIP server, TA410 will select one available PSTN trunk to call out.
Select all the PSTN trunks and set the Strategy as “Least Used”, TA410 will select a least used PSTN trunk to call out.

Step 3. Configure one “IP ->Port” Route on TA410.

Path: Gateway→Routes Settings→”IP->Port”

  • Route Name: give a name for the route, “from_S100”.
  • Call Source: choose the VoIP trunk which is connected to S100, “SPS—S100”.
  • Call Destination: choose the Port Group created in step 2, “Port Group1—group1”.

Step 4. Test a call from S100.

Now, you can use S100’ extension to call any external number through the PSTN trunks on TA410.


5. Port to IP

In this section, we configure incoming calls to S-Series IPPBX through PSTN trunk on TA410.

Step 1. Create an inbound route on S100.
Path: PBX→Inbound Routes→Add Incoming Route
Choose the inbound destination as IVR, when you call to one PSTN trunk on TA410, the call will be routed to S-Series IPPBX IVR. Here we set the DID number as 9999 to match calls with DID number 9999.

  • Route Name: Routein
  • DID Number: 9999. 
  • Selected Trunks: TAO, which is created on S-Series IPPBX connecting to TA410.
  • Destination: IVR-6500.

Step 2. Configure one “Port->IP” Route on TA410.
Path: Gateway→Routes Settings→”Port->IP”__11.png

  • Route Name: give a name for the route, “to_S100”.
  • Call Source: choose the Port Group, “Port Group1—PSTN”.
  • Call Destination: choose the VoIP trunk which is connected to S-Series IPPBX, “SPS—S100”.
  • Hotline: set Hotline to 9999, which is the same number with the DID number set on S100 Inbound route.

Note:
You can also set the hotline as one of S-Series IPPBX extension’s number, then the call will be routed directly to the extension.

Step 3. Test a call.

Dial one PSTN trunk number 05955503301 on your mobile phone, the call will be routed to S-Series IPPBX IVR. After hearing the IVR prompt, you can dial any extension number on S-Series IPPBX.

    Hi,

    My inbound and outbound are not working.

    I followed the above instruction.

    Still the same Out/In bound call not working. Trunk status is OK.
